Reinstatement Committee

The Reinstatement Committee is an external committee of the Academic Senate. Members of the committee include administrative professionals from the divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, a faculty member from each of the six colleges, and three student representatives. Faculty members are appointed for a three-year term. Student members are appointed to a one-year term by the Student Government Association.

The Reinstatement Committee convenes at least once a month to review and discuss current policies and procedures regarding academic probation, as well as review petitions for reinstatement that are submitted by students who have been dismissed from Illinois State University. The review of petitions is done anonymously, thus student names are removed from the petition during the committee’s review.

Committee members are kept confidential. The Committee Chair will meet with individual students to explain decisions and to discuss options. However, other Reinstatement Committee members, as well as the committee as a whole, will not meet with individual students regarding the petition process. Thus, your petition is your representation to the Committee.
