Things to do When you Return to Illinois State
Admission
Before you can return to the University, you must apply for readmission at Welcome2ISU or the Admissions Web site. You are strongly encouraged to apply for admission during the Priority Filing Period for the term for which you are applying and must submit all application and supporting documents by published deadlines. Refer to the Admission and Application Procedures section of this Web site for more information.
Registration and Advisement
As a former Illinois State student, the registration process may be different since your last enrollment. In order to become eligible for the current campus registration systems, you must complete the steps outlined below.
- Meet with your academic advisor. Advisor phone numbers and advisement locations are listed in the CRD. You are encouraged to contact your advisor as soon as possible to schedule an appointment as appointment times may fill during the Advance Registration Period. It is possible that you may be encouraged to make an appointment for the next available registration period. If you have earned fewer than 24 semester hours, are a General Student, or are considered to be “Unclassified” (non-degree-seeking), you are advised in the University College Academic Advisement Center, Fell Hall 340, (309) 438-7604. If you have a declared major, contact your major department/school for advisement.
In order to complete the steps below, you need your University Identification Number (UID).
- Activate your ULID and Password. You will need to activate your ULID in order to register for classes, read your Illinois State email, and access the iCampus Portal. To activate your ULID, visit the ULID Account Setup and Maintenance Web site -- click on the link indicating “ULID Activation.”
- Reset your Registration PIN Number. You will need to reset your PIN if you do not recall your PIN from your previous enrollment at Illinois State. You can reset your PIN by bringing a photo I.D. to the Student Service and Referral Center in Moulton Hall 107 or by faxing a written request to (309) 438-8652. The written request must include your name, University Identification Number (UID), date of birth, a copy of your Redbird Card, the statement “default my PIN to my month and date of birth (mmdd),” and your signature. Your PIN cannot be changed via phone. More information in regard to your PIN and how to reset it can be found at the Personal Identification Number (PIN) Web site.
- Familiarize yourself with how to register. Register using the iCampus Portal where an online Course Registration Directory Planner is available. For registration instructions visit the Registrar's Web site.
Financial Aid
- Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or FAFSA renewal form for financial aid consideration at Illinois State. In addition, you should contact the Financial Aid Office or visit their Web site for more information about how and when to apply for financial aid as well as cost of attendance estimates. Remember to list Illinois State, school code 001692, as a recipient of the data on your FAFSA.
- If you have attended other college(s) or university(s) since last enrolling at Illinois State, you will need to submit a financial aid transcript from that school.
ID Card (Redbird Card)
As soon as you register for classes you may obtain your Illinois State ID card from the Redbird Card Office. You must present another form of identification with your photo on it—such as a drivers’ license—in order to obtain your University ID. The Redbird Card Office is located in the Bone Student Center.
