Application Procedures

If you have not been in attendance at Illinois State for one or more semesters (excluding summer session) you will need to submit an Undergraduate Application in order to apply for readmission. You must indicate “readmission” within the “Admission Category” section. There is no application fee for former Illinois State students applying to the same level. Please refer to the application for admission for any additional documents that may be needed in order to complete your file and make an admission decision.

You can access an application for admission at Welcome2ISU or download an application and mail it to Illinois State University, Office of Admissions, Campus Box 2200, Normal, IL 61790-2200.

Application Deadlines

Former students are strongly encouraged to apply during the admissions priority filing period for the term for which they are applying. Refer to the application deadlines chart for more information. Please note that course availability and program capacity may be limited for students who apply later in the application cycle.

Requirements

Students are strongly encouraged to apply during the admissions priority filing period for the term for which they are applying. Former students returning should be aware that enrollment restrictions may be imposed at anytime which may impact their eligibility for readmission to the University.

  • Students who have attended another college or university since last enrolling at Illinois State must indicate such enrollment on the Undergraduate Application for Admission and submit an official transcript from each school. Students must have earned a C average (2.00/4.00) for all coursework taken since last attending Illinois State and must be in good academic standing at the last institution attended.

  • Students that have been dismissed from Illinois State University will need to meet the requirements outlined above as well as submit a Petition for Reinstatement.

  • Students may be required to submit additional information or documentation as requested by the Office of Admissions.

Major

As a former Illinois State University undergraduate student you are automatically admitted into your previous major, provided that when you left the University, you were in good academic standing. If you wish to change your major, you must contact the department or school that you wish to enter and complete their application process for consideration for their program of study.
