Enrollment Deposit Frequently Asked Questions

Paying your Enrollment Deposit

How do I pay the Enrollment Deposit?

In late January, you will receive detailed information regarding the Enrollment Confirmation and Deposit.  At that time, you can pay your Enrollment Deposit online through Welcome2ISU. You may also submit your Enrollment Confirmation and Deposit in person at Illinois State University’s Cashier’s Office or you may send a check or money order payable to Illinois State University. Submit your payment in the green envelope included with the Enrollment Confirmation and Deposit information or mail it to:

Illinois State University, Cashier’s Office
Campus Box 1210
Normal IL 61790-1210

When do I have to pay the Enrollment Deposit?

The Enrollment Confirmation Form and non-refundable $150 deposit must be submitted online or postmarked by May 1. The University reserves the right to refuse your Enrollment Confirmation Form and Deposit if it is submitted online or postmarked after this date. Although you are strongly encouraged to submit your Enrollment Confirmation and Deposit as soon as possible, you should not return it until you are sure that Illinois State is the right school for you. Before you submit your deposit, listen to what current Illinois State students are saying about Illinois State, chat with an Admissions Counselor, or call the Office of Admissions toll free at 800-366-2478.

What happens if I do not pay the Enrollment Deposit?

If you do not pay the Enrollment Deposit, you will not be allowed to enroll at Illinois State. The Enrollment Confirmation and Deposit are required of all new freshman students beginning in the fall term.

Will you accept a partial payment?

No – the University will not accept partial payment of the Enrollment Deposit. If partial payment is received, the payment will be returned to you.

I am not sure I can afford to pay the $150 Enrollment Deposit. What should I do?

If, at the time of application for admission, you qualified for an economic hardship application fee waiver, you will receive an Enrollment Confirmation and Deposit notice in the mail. The waiver requires you submit only the non-refundable $100 Preview Registration Fee. The $50 tuition portion of the Deposit will be waived.

If you did not qualify for an economic hardship waiver at the time of admission but feel that you should be considered at this time, contact the Office of Enrollment Management and Academic Services to discuss your qualifications. If you have additional questions regarding the economic hardship application fee waiver, refer to the Undergraduate Application for Admission or contact the Office of Admissions toll free at (800) 366-2478.

For more information regarding economic hardship and the Enrollment Deposit contact the Office of Enrollment Management and Academic Services via email at or by telephone at (309) 438-2156.

What if I am paying my tuition and fees using College Illinois? Do I have to pay the $50 portion of the $150 Enrollment Deposit?

Yes, you need to submit the $150 enrollment deposit.  The enrollment deposit requires a method of payment along with the form.  As soon as Fall tuition is posted to your account (approximately mid-July), the $50 tuition portion of the enrollment deposit will be credited and the payment will be applied toward other charges.  Once Illinois State University receives funds from College Illinois, the initial payment will be refunded to you, provided no other charges accrue that College Illinois does not cover.

If you have additional questions in regard to your student account at Illinois State University, please feel free to contact Student Accounts at (309) 438-5643.  In addition, you can learn more about College Illinois from the Student Accounts Web site.
